Silence.
Silence in the streets, silence on the spot, silence everywhere in Florence.
Only nature speaks, breathes and rediscovers its spaces.
Silent the monuments, the churches and the museums of the city, which formerly, with privilege, I attended constantly.
Now they are so far, inaccessible.
Places without the hubbub of people excited by the visual contact of Leonardo da Vinci masterpieces, Botticelli paintings or sculptures by Donatello and Michelangelo. Besieged, surrounded and almost suffocated once, today the David of the Gallery of the Academy, the Birth of Venus or the Spring of the Uffizi Gallery, the Maddalena di Donatello of the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, interact with the empty echo of their rooms.
Silent, in the shade of the dome of Brunelleschi’s Dome, these Florentine works wait for someone to give them back their voice and that, with renewed vigor and an old passion, establish a new dialogue and bring us all back – Florentines and guests , lovers and amateurs, scholars and curious – to share the love of culture, knowledge and beauty.
In the meantime, I invite you to follow me – each in the privacy of his “own home” – along a different path through the rooms of the Uffizi Gallery, to rediscover the Florentine masterpieces and non-Florentine, and to observe them from a new and unexpected angle.
First episode with the Annunciation by Leonardo da Vinci.
