Sometimes, also in the most known cities, some details can escape our scrupulous attention. The temple of the Florentine Christianity, The Baptistery, introduces for example a small curiosity in its decorative apparatus. This building worthily embodies the spirituality in Florence and expresses the power of the religious faith of the Florentine people. With his solid octagonal structure thick, the Baptistery in Florence imposes him to the contemplation of the Florentine ets of the tourists, while its harmony and the simple elegance of its geometric decorations fascinate all those people whom walk around.
Nevertheless looking more attentively at the Baptistery, a decorative element can be noticed that doesn’t have some relationship with the rest! It deals with the frontal section of a sarcophagus of Roman origin inserted in an extreme angle of the building. Its presence stays discreet and you/he/she could appear strange but in reality this insertion has one explanation of his…practice! … to follow in plaza St. Giovanni during a visit.
